One Last Update!

My thermal silver came in earlier than I had expected. Earlier than even Amazon expected. So today will be full of motherboards, CPUs, GPUs, RAM, and disc drives. Now, unless there is some magic computer stuff I don’t know about, I will probably have to reinstall Windows and Photoshop, so my photos probably won’t start showing up until Monday. So as long as this motherboard isn’t faulty I will be back to posting photos soon. And back to browsing blogs more since I won’t have a weak CPU/RAM slowing me down. Damn the people for making software better and using more resources than this 15 year old PC has!

Just a Few More Days!

So, Amazon is an amazing site. Instead of waiting for my old board to reach them before they sent me my new one, once the package was scanned they sent me a new one. Or at least it seems that way because I received my new board a day and a half after I sent the old board.
But I was waiting to order the last thing I needed, which I shouldn’t have done. Now I have to wait for it to arrive. I would chance it without it, but since I took the heatsink off the processor I have to reapply thermal silver. And if I don’t there is a chance the CPU can fry out, and I don’t want that to happen. So looks like maybe Monday or Tuesday.
This computer doesn’t like some sites, and one it doesn’t like to load all the time is WordPress, I think it has to do with photos. This poor thing has a hard time loading photos on some pages. So I haven’t been able to keep up as much as I want. But I should soon be back and hopefully more active in all aspects.

I have named my new computer Audrey. After the love of my life, Audrey Hepburn.

Time to go spend some time in a book.

Well

Turns out my fears came true, my motherboard is faulty. My brother was nice enough to bring me his old PC (It has an old zip drive on it, that shows it’s age) and it can’t really do anything but browse the internet. So until I get my info back from the board manufacturer I am stuck with this. So it may be another week before I get started, unless Gigabyte can tell me how to fix it without having to send it back for a replacement.
But I can still view and comment on blogs until then, so I am not as gone as I was when the PC first fried.
Here’s hoping it works faster.

Water Tower #43

Back to the lovely world of photographing. I didn’t go out until this morning. I need to go back out and take some more pictures. Hopefully I will be able to take a few walks this week. It is starting to get hot and sunny, so I need to go out now and take as many pictures as possible, in case it turns out this summer just gets too hot to actually go walk.

I might have another project I am working on, possibly two. Someone you come to see the pictures of is getting bored of inanimate objects. One project is inanimate, the other isn’t.
My brother came up this weekend and we went to town and I talked to strangers. I also bought a pair of shorts and a couple brightly colored shorts, which are out of my comfort zone. And I ate a frog’s leg. So this weekend was full of stepping out of my comfort zone and trying things and talking to strangers.
So, I may be stepping out into the world of photographing strangers. I am starting to think it is time to step out of my reclusive comfort zone and do more.

Everything is back up and running, from what I can tell. And no plans for near future upgrades that will impede my blogging. Unless, of course, my motherboard is a faulty one and I have to send it back for a replacement, which could be a possible problem.
Anyway, Photoshop is back on my PC. Tuesday I plan on going for a walk and taking some new pictures (Actually, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a few Saturdays will be my walk days; Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are my new days for training my weak lungs, out-of-shape body, and lazy heart to run a 5k.) But I have decided I am not posting a new photo until next Monday. Why? To give myself time to catch up with all my followed blogs (which I am starting tomorrow now that everything seems to be in working order) and also to give me time to build up a small catalog of new images, time to process them, and possibly time to write some nice sentiments to go along with them.
Looking forward to catching up tomorrow. Hopefully morning will be a good time for me. I still need to go and comment on Makena’s write up on the box she sent me.

Look for me commenting on a blog near you,

Guess Who’s Back?

Or at least sort of. The one thing I forgot to purchase was a new power supply, and mine isn’t enough to run Photoshop at the moment. I might try Gimp, which is similar to PS, just so I can get back into posting photos.
If that doesn’t happen at least I am back online, which means I can catch back up with all my blogger friends while I wait for myself to make the money to buy a new power supply. So look forward to me slowly coming back (over 2000 emails I need to go through and some programs I need to download, so slow is what i am looking at for the moment.), but I will be back to posting photos.
Also, I went from a measly 3.4ghz single core hyperthreaded (Lied to the motherboard and made it seem like a dual core) processor to a whopping 2.7ghz (3.2ghz Turbo, haven’t figured out what that means yet, though.) six core processor. Six cores! I made a 1.8 single core last for ten years doing things it shouldn’t, and a 3.4 HT last for a couple years doing what it shouldn’t, I think I can make a six core last quite a while. Plus I upgraded from 4gb (three registered) to 16gb of RAM. So as long as I keep it running nicely, and upgrade my PSU, I should be able to last quite a while.

So, until I can start back on my photo posts I will be going around commenting and participating in the wonderful of WordPress, and catching back up with all you guys.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

As you you can tell I haven’t posted in a while. I have and excellent reason for that: My computer died. I was trying to fix it and when I put the heatsink back on, thinking it might be getting too hot, it wouldn’t power up. Switched power supplies and tried again. Nothing. Waited a while and tried again and it powered up, but gave me the orange light of death.
I haven’t made enough to buy a new PC yet, and honestly not sure how or when I will make it. So this is my last post for a while, my brother came for the weekend with his laptop. I hope to have the money for the parts I need, which is relatively cheap, pretty soon. But no promises.
When I come back I will start where I left off on my water tower series. And I will take my camera out even though I can’t do any processing and take pictures while I am out. I might have to buy more memory cards if I start to take a lot of pictures, but I need a couple more anyway.
And this loss had made me realize that if I plan on making photography into more than a hobby I should really jump right in and do it.Maybe I can start selling prints and start building an emergency fund for the future, in case something like this happens again.
Until the next time:

News!

My new video card came in today. Turns out it wasn’t the problem. Now I have to figure out what the problem is and fix it. I think it is time to just update the whole system, which means I most likely won’t be buying a bike anytime soon. But an updated PC is worth it in regards to photography, means Photoshop will work properly and my PC will work faster all around.
